Can anybody give me a dimension for a cj-6 tub? I am stretching my 5 into a 6.
Started as a 56 cj-5. Frame has been lenghtened 20 inches, wheelbase is correct. I cut the body in half and am doing the sheet work. I would love an exact dimension from the front of the tub/firewall to the rear of the body. My searches have come to nought. Tim, your a jeep encylopedia , how about it?

Don't you really just need pictures of what is done to fill in the missing section? If the front half is mounted to the frame as originally existed, and the back half done the same, then you would just need to fill in the middle. :)

I can take a picture of what the factory did for the filler panel.

I'll take any pictures I can get. I am not worried about joing the 2 ends. As you said, they just join in the middle. My concern is getting the dimensions of the tub accurate so that I will be able to get a standard cj-6 soft top on in. I would hate to be a little long or short and not be able to get a top to fit. The original frame was a cj-5 , so it has also been stretched. The only dimensions I have for that are similar to the ones listed above. The frame required a significant amount of repair , so I need a couple double checks to feel good about it.

Thanks for the pics, they are very helpful! Can you give me a number from the front of the tub to the rear? It is interesting how they did the panel. I thought the were seamless. Now I have to make a seam in the same spot as yours.
thanks again for taking the time to measure!

That is the number I was looking for! That is an immense amount of help. Thanks a lot!!! I calculated it to 103". I feel good enough now to make the final body welds.
