I have a 1971 CJ5. The rear is a Dana 44 which currently has 10" drum brakes. I want to put 11" drums on. Which year would be the best for a donor?. I have been told that any 11" drums will fit from 1972 - 1977. Is
    this true?

70s postals have 11" drums. 70s wagoneers do too; make sure they are 5 lug and 11"... don't bother with the 12" if you find them, sources on this forum said you'll never find parts for them...
Let us know if more questions. 11" drums are a great upgrade... especially if you DRILL them!! :D ;)

Remember forum member Michaelo ? I bought my 11" drums from him (just drums, not hardware or backing plates). He had a whole pallet he sold a great prices here and at WT. Last I talked to him (a year ago?) he had only a few left. I should send him mail, get him back on here...

Oh yea...anyone need patterns? I have a set...

I also have a fresh set of drums from Michelo....trying to decide if I'd be better off dropping them at a machine shop for drilling....

    I was thinking.......
If I were to go to the 11" during the lift install.
I think every 6* will give 60 holes per run then space them out.......

I am thinking using dividing head on the bridgeport......

    Mike,

I'm interested in drilling some 11" drums. Can you post a pic or describe the drilling template? I saw a pic of on once, but after searching for about an hour I can't seem to find it. Thanks
