I can pretty much build a whole Jeep for what a pair of good coilovers will cost. Other then for competition rockcrawling, I haven't found a need for them. I know that there is a lot of info at Pirate4x4. Just be careful asking questions there- They can be pretty brutal!

On the CJ5 I just sold I ran coils and ford radius arms. I had Waggie 44s under mine, I think it would fit on a stock width with some creative packaging.

Basic list was Ford Bronco/F150 radius arms and axle "wedges".
    Cherokee coils
Built the brackets for the frame to radius arm connection, and the trackbar
Shocks were whatever fit the mounts you build.

I ran this setup for about 8 years, never had a problem with it. The radius arms act like a really big sway bar, so road handling was pretty nice.

    Things I wanted to change:
build a "wristed" radius arm for better articulation.
build the mounts tighter to the frame for better compression travel.
Build the coil buckets into the front frame rails instead of off the side of them.

Here is a picture that at least shows the upper spring buckets (only one I haveright now). If you search under my user name you might find others I have posted.

yup, thats what I was thinking.......since I wheel with a bunch of EB's I can score all those parts i would need and can get a 44 with a WAU ,a wristed axle housing already done. looking to extened my wheelbase can't move back 'cause of the gas tank .would like to get the frt tires edge to the bumpers edge........twisted- tires hit the buckets? twisted up this set up would really drop out. if set up right.

I cannot think of a reason for replacing the springs for a coil over setup. I doubt if anyone here could get the use out of a coil over to justify the cost
switching over to a coil spring and shock setup has its benefits in increased articulation and control, but I doubt if most guys are running trails that would justify this.
We did a rock trail this weekend, I was in my TJ not the CJ, but we had 2 cjs with us. Everyone got through fine taking the lines their spring setup requires.
It would be trick, and be a conversation piece at mall meetings, but the cost of doing it, and the time to tune it up and refab stuff till you have it correct, setting up the track bar and sway bar systems would make it not only expensive, but down right frightening to someone who does not have the skills or knowledge to do it correct.
Just designing the geometry of the system to make it safe and working correctly would be beyond most.
