I have a 64 cj5 which I need to overhaul the seats in.
the right side is intact with good springs in bottom and back.
The driver side has been torn and springs are rusted out.
Any comments on which way to go, and where? The tubular
frames are solid, but there is no solid metal back plate on
these as is on the military jeeps.
Thanks for any information, these springs are sharp on
    my south side.....

Start shopping for a talented seat repair shop. Those are of the breed of Jeep seats that there ain't no replacements for, AFAIK. Steel tube frames with springs attached right to them? Like these? The only thing I've found is new covers available at Beachwood Canvas, but the springs are another story. Start searching eBay and Craigslist, and every 4x4 forum you can find. Those seats are hard to find, most of them rotted away from being out in the weather for years, of people just took 'em out and tossed 'em because they wanted something "better".
