I have an after market clutch cross shaft on my 3A. The clutch pedal doesn't have as much overall travel as one would expect, i.e. the clutch is actuated / disengaged with relatively short travel of the pedal. The two arms welded onto the cross tube have the holes for the incoming linkage, then the clutch cable about the same distance from the tube i.e. 1:1 ratio. Should the hole on the clutch cable side (a cable runs from the cross tube arm to the clutch fork), be nearer the center point of the tube? I think I have read about this issue somewhere but couldn't find it in archive on this site.

I can't remember which "ear" was off, but I remember cutting mine and re-welding it to match my original one.

Do you mean it was off in orientation to the other? In other words, each was not at the appropriate degrees from the other around the circumference of the tube? Or, do you mean that you cut down the ear, thus moving the hole closer to the center point of the tube? Thanks for responding.
