    Anyone need a Rollbar?

I was told that it would fit my 71 Commando. It is about an inch too wide to fit in cab.

If anyone wants it, it is in CT at 06880. Let me know... I want to get rid of it.

Would you be able to pull the legs together far enough to get it installed under the tub lip, then release the restraint? Strong ratchet strap would do it.

If it's more than the legs that are too wide, any decent welder should be able to cut an inch out and reweld it, I've had one done like that.

Just a couple ideas in case you haven't considered them... :tea:

Having a welder cut out an inch or so and reweld (Maybe sleeve the joint where cut to assure strength) should be a whole lot cheaper than giving this one away and buying another one... ;) :)

Keep us posted, let us know how this works out.
And if it does work out... we will want pics of course!! :D
    Good luck!!

What was it out of? I agree, Have it cut a welded.

I'll probably bend up my own, (might as well, I have the bender.
Does anyone know what size the tube was on them? Does anyone have pictures of the factory bar?

I have actually been driving her alot lately and I am questioning wether or not I need a rollbar. I am only lifting her 2" to fit 31's and plan on restoring her as a cruiser. NO offroading.

My only real reason for the rollbar was so that I can install 3 point seat belts so that the wife and kids can come along. I am second guessing that now...

What to do... What to do...

Rollbar, even on the street IMHO.

Look at it this way, high center of gravity + short wheelbase = high potential for disaster.

(if it does roll your cranium will be the highest point without a rollbar.) :)

Agreed! I've seen the results of three CJ street rollovers; two with and one without a rollbar. Even though the rollbars were only mounted to the wheel houses, it helped to provide some LIFESAVING protection. Suffice it to say the one (passenger) without definitely lost!:(
