I need a coil for the L head. I got an electronic distributor and meant to order the coil at the same time. I think it needs a new one. What coil do I need to buy? Anything specific?

I believe that the electronic portion of the distributer is just a trigger to control pulses to the coil at precise timing without the mechanical operation of points, the manufacture of the distributor should be able to confirm what coil works best but unless its an HEI most likely you can use a standard coil.

I got a standard 12v coil with external resistor to go with my electronic distributor...works very well. You can get coil with built in resistor if you like. Any flaps has them. hth.

Did your elect dist come with High voltage rotor and cap? If not then you may want to go with standard coil. A very hot coil will tear up standard plug wires and rotor/cap in pretty short order. Just a thought..
