hat channel in fender.

    on my original fender there is a channel that curves across the inside of the fender to make it stronger.
    on the replacement fender that is on it's way there isnt one.
    i wonder if i could put that channel into the new fender and if it would be worthwhile?
    it looks like it would be pretty easy.
    p.s.
    i noticed there isnt one on the fender from a postal jeep either.
