I have recently acquired a 65' Tuxedo Park Mark IV. I was wondering what exactly I have on my hands here. It is a family heirloom, so it has nothing to do with the monetary value. Minus a good cleaning the jeep is in very decent condition. It has the L134 engine with the high/low gearbox. Everything (to my knowledge) is there for the Tux package, except the rear fender pads. How rare is this particular model, in terms of production numbers?

Thanks for any information or direction to info.

There were nearly 2,000 of them made in 65. Check the early cj5 Tech Library above. Has good info on them.

lets decrease that number of possible hulks by 1. I sadly left mine in the bottom of a ravine in Mexico 5 years ago. I loved that jeep. bought it when I was 19 (1977) and ran it for decades, always proud I had a special edition that was rare. I had most of the tux package on it when the thing took it's final dive. ( long story, keep that parking brake adjusted) Anyway I am glad the original poster is keeping it a heirloom as these things are really hard to find. Check on the web as there is a registry for them now I have been told. Mine had a blown V6 when I got it and I put the 134 in it. I still was running that engine 189,000 miles later when it decided it no longer wanted my attention and jumped. Anyway, I hope you keep her going, they are a great piece of jeep history. They were one of the marks attempts at having a upgraded universal package and it only lasted 3 years. Seems the CJ, which is a vehicle that runs forever, never gets any respect, but you find examples of the 40 or more years old still running on original drivetrain constantly. I guess it is a jeep thing, or jeeper thing. We buy these base model vehicles with the practicality of a pack mule and are proud to parade them everywhere we go. How do we explain it? It's a Jeep thing, you would not understand.
sorry for the rant, I just had a moment thinking about my 65, I now run a 70 cj6. Love the sixer, but it is no Tuxedo Park.

Now how rare are Tuxedo Parks
In 61 the original ones were offered, It was an option
In 62 and 63 the Mark IIs were offered as an option
In 64 through 65 they were Made a model, The Mark IV
Besides the long list of chrome goodies, they also sported a column shifter, 2 stage springs and special shocks for a smoother ride, larger brakes, upgraded electrics, comfy seat with cowgrain vinyl among other things. It was a great package for a early 60s 4x4.
I have researched over 7000 were made, I would say that is the mark IVs but am not sure if that is the entire run. (being an option for the first 3 years would be why I would say the number was for the Mark IV model.) Anyway, way rare and an item you need to be proud of.
Find those bumperettes and you will get a lot of guys checking that machine out at Jeep gatherings. Complete and original gathers a crowd.

mine is a 66 model. it still has the hood badges, 60/40 seats, rear chrome bumper, column shifter, which i replaced with a floor shifter. the column shifter was a nightmare to shift but i kept all the parts to switch it back if need be. it has the 134 engine which may not be the original.
