I have been having problems with my prestolite distributor on my 360 so after many searches I found the Team rush upgrade. It is a larger cap and rotor off of a ford v8 and It fits the amc dizzy. It was a very easy upgrade and my jeep seems to be running better. Here are the part numbers if anyone is interested.

    Cardone 30-4891 dizzy

    msd 3119 wires

msd 8414 cap and rotor kit

    msd 8869 wire adapter

    original coil- for now...

    summit 850602 cdi

    So you replaced the distributor?

The Motorcraft distributor is the"Duraspark" and the upgrade is usually called the TFI upgrade, at least in the circles I frequent. So, does Team Rush recommend the CDI box, or was that your idea?

Yes I replaced the Prestolite distributor with a duraspark one. I suppose it would be a tfi upgrade but i did not replace the coil. Team rush said there would be no need to.

I went with the cdi for reliablity and team rush had nothing but good to say about them.

I will be changing the coil because I have no idea how old it is, but it starts right up and runs great!

You could get another stock oilcan-style coil. Standard Ignition is good. A spare coil is a good part to have. BTDT.

Yea I will get a new oil filled one. You say Standard is a good brand? I already have a Standard one in the garage but it is for the newer style clip on wire thingy. Maybe I will get the right connector for that and call it done. I did not know if Standard was good or not. Thanks Timgr.

what do you estimate the total cost was of that conversion? I am considering ditching points since the points are now 35 bucks and a pertronix to trigger the CDI box is 70 bucks plus the CDI anyway.

I would skip the Pertronix and get the Duraspark distributor. Either the reman distributor (listed above) or a junkyard pull from a 360 Wagoneer would be suitable. I don't think the Pertronix will work with the 850602 CDI box - it may, however, work with a different CDI box intended for points ignition.

Right around $300. for everything. You could get by for less if you use stock wires and cap.
