Man, hope it was the gasket. Might want to order a new spring and ball just for the halibut. From the sound of it idle oil pressure wont be a problem.

DO NOT use gasket sealant on the gasket between the oil pump adapter and the timing cover. this could be some of your problem as it may have blocked a oil passage or similar. in addition, the sealant actually changes the clearance between the adapter and the gears, thus changing the pressure.

Very observant. I looked at the picture, and did not see it.

No gasket cement here. The thickness of the gasket is critical to the operation of the oil pump.

I presume you have removed the oil pressure relief piston (pretty sure it's a piston and not a ball) and its spring, and inspected the piston and bore?

It is the piston type, not a ball.

Check to make sure it slides smoothly its bore and is not in backwards. Seems to be a common occurance and will cause these symptoms.

Thanks, Guys. I did check the spring and piston, I thought the piston slide smoothly. Its only $20 bucks at NAPA for a new gasket, spring and piston. I'm going that route this weekend, I'll let you guys know how I made out. Thanks again!
