Rochester 2g Part to Hold Down Air Cleaner

Original carb has place for threaded rod that hold down air cleaner, new carb does not. But judging from the holes it looks like their should be a part similar to the harp in a table lamp that would hold down air cleaner. Where in the world can I find this part.

 

If you bought this carb new I would be taking it back. I haven't seen a carb were the air cleaner wasn't held in place by a threaded rod since the 60's. But it does look like there either was or should be something to hold the cleaner in place by means of the two holes as you indicated.

 

There is supposed to be a bracket with threaded hole in the middle and it spreads across the top and has an ear on each side to lock into the cast holes in the top of the carb.

 

Yeah, if this is a reman, there is a piece missing. The carb is kind of useless without it.

A carb shop should have that part in their junk pile. Otherwise you'll have to make one or scrounge it from another car. Possible you could make something to work if you have the skill and resources.

 

Contacted the people I bought the carb from. They are going to send me the part
