i got a fender to replace my beat up one for $50!
and a factory service manual for $10
i could just barely afford it but i couldn't pass it up.
the body is ok except for where the side spare tire mount was.
i'll think of something for that.
this jeep is going to be looking good this summer.
thats my goal.
all my Friends that have an old Willy's have one that looks like crap.
i ain't going that route.

i found out one of my warn hubs is trashed.
but i found replacements already thanks to a member.
a buddy owes me a favor so he will rebuild my carb and repack my front bearings while I'm at work sat.
there are two rusty spots in the back by the turn signals.
i dont know exactly what i am going to do about those.
ive got new rubber brake hoses on the way.
i wonder what other suprises are in store for me?

 

i pulled the gas tank.
yep there are two small holes.
thats where my gas went.

 

patched tank.
now line leaks like a sieve.

i don't get to repack the bearings yet.
kaiser Willy's sent me the wrong parts.


now i have to learn how to fix a fuel pump leak.......
sometimes i wonder just how many things can be screwed up on one vehicle?
am i being punished for evil deeds in a past life?
it's been like this since day one of ownership.

 

i am starting to get used to the idea of having a jeep so i can throw money at it and it can sit immobile in my driveway and leak.R)

 

fixed line leak.
got new right front fender and shot it with primer.
i think the gasket under the glass globe on my fuel pump is shot.

 

getting ready to repack the front bearings and install the new selectro hubs.

 

Learn, young Grasshopper, learn! Then, when you come up here to fetch those seats, I can put you to work on my Heep!

complete rewire
replace 9" brakes
fabricate seat brackets/front bumper
adjust valves/timing /dwell etc.
clean/patch gas tank
change all fluids differentials/tranny/ etc.
carb rebuild
replace warn locking hubs with selectros
repack wheel bearings replace seals

 

i just spoke with mike at kaiser willy's.
i have a dana 27 not a 25.
no wonder my front seals didnt fit!

 

1 selectro down
1 ta go!

 

i am SO close to being able to finally just drive this jeep around.
ive got one more front wheel seal and put the selectro hub on, replace a gasket in the fuel pump .
and it's ready.

this has been a nerve wracking,tantrum inducing huge PITA.


would i do it again knowing what i know now?

probably...
im kinda stupid that way.....

 

ive got some rust issues
and i just cant afford to do anything about them.
i see threads of these guys pulling the tub and going nuts.
i cant do that.
no tools, time, space or money.

 

the next big one is the steering.
i turn the wheel for about 2-3 inches before there is a clunk and the wheels start to turn.
i have already adjusted the ross box.
