Gibson mufflers

Anybody running Gibson muffler on they 258? I have Gibson on my Ram and sounds really good. Just wondering how they would sound on a straight 6?

 

Depends on which Gibson. I ran the larger one on my XJ and loved it because it was quiet. There was a slight burble at idle, but even under full throttle it wasn't obnoxious. The smaller mufflers for the 4.0L Wranglers would probably be more likely to fit an early CJ. They're more of a performance sound, but they're still not over the top. They sound good on a 4.0L, so the same should be true for the 258.

 

I can say from experience that a straight 6 has a constant drone sound, nothing like a v6 or v8. Maybe with headers that have a dual output with the cylinders separated 3 each would have a pulsing sound. I know I've never had a straight six sound pleasing.

 

Mine sounds like a hot rod, Right know but oh so loud.... Most think I have a v8
