Donor Vehicles for HEI

    Hi, Im new to the forum and have found alot of info all ready. Im the proud owner of a (new to me) 1969 CJ5. First off, I have to get it runnin!:rofl: After that I would like to convert the distributor to HEI. I have found alot of info on the swap, what I cant figure out is what are the donor vehicles to get the distributor out of? The only one I have found so far is a 1975 Buick Apollo, never even heard of that car! Also I was reading a article about the swap and it was saying to add a vaccum advance control to the new disty once its installed because the new HEI disty doesnt tolerate as much vaccum? I think this subject may have been covered thousands of times, but I cant figure out the search function. I type in HEI and it comes back with no results. I dont know maybe Im doing something wrong.

    '75 Buick 231 oddfire had the oddfire HEI factory.

    You can get a GM 6cyl even fire and convert it using parts from NAPA. You will also need a coil cover off of a V8 HEI. I used this write-up with excellent results: http://www.cjoffroad.com/writeup.asp?WU_ID=21&noAdd=1
