360 question

    So I called a machine shop to see if I could get my 304 flywheel balanced to match the 360 flex plate...They say not possible, since the 304 is internally balanced they would need the whole crank ect ect. to match them...Is there a way around this?

    Supposedly if you have a 360 flywheel or flex plate as well as your 304 flywheel, the shop can balance the 304 flywheel the same as the 360 flywheel/flexplate.

    Try another shop?

    Haha! Yeah! I found a shop about 1/2 hour away that tells me it IS possible! Some really cool old dude! He was pretty stoked that I had an AMC as well. So there are no special tools for flywheel removal correct?

    Sometimes you need a special tool to hold the flywheel from turning. If you have a helper, you can usually put a bolt in the block and use a prybar in the ring gear to hold it. Or else use an impact.

    304 is not internally balanced. All amc v8s are externally balaced.
