sizzle sound from intake

Hi, I have a 258 with a carter bbd. Does anyone think that the carburetor could be dripping fuel onto the intake manifold and causing a slight sizzle noise? It's not a coolant leak in the head and I've cleaned the idle tubes thoroughly(which usually cause a drip and make the jeep stall on deceleration, which it doesn't). It only makes itself known on idle also. I don't know if this noise is common or not, I rebuilt the carb and it runs beautifully, couldn't have the mixture set better and everything else in the carb is stock. It only sizzles slightly after it warms up and it ceases a couple secs after shut off. I know the carter is poor carb but it had to run decent for jeep to use it so often. Anyone have any ideas, it's just a small noise but makes me wonder. Thanks

    258, carter bbd

It probably is leaking. Mine was dripping onto the exhaust manifold. It never caught fire, luckily. There is a shaft that runs through the carb (I think the one the butterfly is connected to) that you can see on the front of the carb. Mine was leaking from there.

Here is how I fixed it.

I threw the Carter away and ordered a Weber.
