:D Actually, most of my bling was installed in Michigan in the barn, right next to my buddy's '68 Sunfire Yellow Dodge Charger.

You'll know I've been here to long when I install spinners.

    Hi James.

This sure is a friendly place. I think I'll enjoy my stay.

According to ledgend my 6 was on a ranch down in Bisbee for 30+ years before it made it's way to my garage. A true AZ native.

It looks like your 5 is setup pretty well. Mine is in the tear down stage. I never imagined I'd have a stripped frame sitting in my garage. I'm more of a woodworker. I've driven Jeeps for several years but doing a rebuild is a new experience. It looks like it going to be a learning experience.

    Hey Scott -

My 6 was a ranch Jeep too, owned by the "KDon Cattle Co. Alpine TX", according to the title.

FYI - I responded to your email, but it bounced back to me from a spam preventer of some sort. The link on my site works on my end...is it still not working for you?

    Mike,

I've told my spam checker to let you through from now on.

I checked again on your web page. The link works but the photo doesn't show up. Maybe that's something on my end.

I guess the ranchers like the 6s. Makes sense.

    Mike,

now I get to eat my words. The photo now shows up. Maybe it's a caching issue with my computer.

    As long as it works.

Hmmmmmm..... What was this thread originally supposed to be about?

That should be enough. ;) I'd forgotten you had a top already until I saw the pic. Looks good like that, a light grey top would look good too. 8)

I noticed the pic was iffy - probably a timing thing -- if the picture takes too long to load the page just loads without it. Some hosts don't like "remote loading" like that.

Glenn - I was considering light gray wheels and 'cage, but am happy with the white wheels. Top will just be black. Life may never be black and white, but my Jeep sure can....

So Scott - you gonna lift your Jeep somehow? ;)

    Mike,

Yeah, that's it. I was looking for info on Holbrook Long Leafs. They seem like an interesting lift. Long leafs, a long Jeep. Seems like they should go together.

I have a pair of D44s from a Wagoneer to put under my 6. I'm not really interested in doing a spring over. The real question is how big of tires can I run with a particular lift. I'm going to build my rig and then decide on tires and diff gears, not the other way around. I'll see what will fit instead of trying to fit a particular tire size. Seems more reasonable to me.

I tried using the help features to search for Holbrook or long leaf or even 'Nickmil' as suggested. I didn't find much.

Scott: Yea, AZ Jeeps are the best! :D No Rust! :D

My PO bought the Jeep from the orig. owner. He bought it from a delear in either Bullhead or Parker--we don't know which, but it's always been here in AZ.

Great place to wheel out here. We just do it in the WINTER! R) Too dang hot/deadly out in that Desert in the Summer! R)

    Try this thread:

    http://www.earlycj5.com/index.php?n...=viewtopic&t=11129&highlight=holbrook

You'll see that I've also got them in mind for SSDutch, but they're likely a ways off as I have a perfectly usable set of Rancho 1" springs to put on.

Do you plan to cut down the waggy axles or run them full width? That might affect tire size as well - if the axles push the tires partially outside of the fenders, you'll need more lift to clear the tires during articulation (pointing out the obvious here, I'm sure...)

I see what I was doing wrong. I was using the search at the top of the page. Once I found the forum search I was able to find lots of references to Holbrook springs. I think I'm going to get a set. Anything has to be better than what I have now.

I'm not planing on cutting down the D44s. I'm going to do a spring lift, a bit of body lift, and probably trim the fenders as needed. Of course everything is up for debate and redesign. I can se that this jeep will never be done.
