Well I took my jeep with the hardtop on it to an autobody shop to have the doors put on and he said he couldn't see how it was going to work. When I held the doors in the opening it didn't look like it was going to line up. My tub is a fiberglass tub so what can you expect I guess. The thing I don't understand is that the bestop supertop fit so nicely. Do u guys think it is work my time to try to get it to work or just go out and buy another softop?

    thanks,
    nathan

You sure your top is for a pre-76? The body tub and door opening didn't change, but the windshield did. If you're trying to line up the door opening and he windshield doesn't match I would understand, but if it's just an issue of the tub's door opening not matching the door, I have no idea what's up unless you've got CJ-7 doors or something.

Some pics would tell us a whole lot more.

My windshield frame is definately a pre-76 frame. It has the distinctive curve at the top of it. The top fits on allright, but the doors don't seem like they are going to work. The door opening didn't change at all so even if they were acme doors ( not saying they are) for a later model cj5 they should work anyway? Is there generally enough difference between a metal tub and a fiberglass tub to keep a hardtop and doors from being put on? I bought the jeep with the tub on there and it seems like a nice tub.(its reinforced in all of the right places so whats the deal? when I get it here I will try to post some pics

The only diffeence should be the windshield frame, mainly the angle. However, it sounds like you are saying that the bottom/back of the doors will not mate with the body. Pics would help

well sorry it took so long for the pics guys. I took a bunch of pics so I am just going to link them instead of upload all of them on here. The passenger door seems like the gaps are too tight and on the drivers side it seems the gaps are to big esp. on the top of the door. There is also a gap on the hings side of the doors right by the upper hinge. Looks at these pics and tell me if you think that the doors will go on there. I tried to take the best pics I could but its a little tricky when you have to hold door up.

    thanks,
    nathan

Nothing a little weatherstripping won't fix. You have some adjustment depending on where you mount your hinges. I'd center the door as best as possible and mount the hinges and then use some foam weatherstripping to seal the gaps. Honestly it doesn't look bad to me, I thought you were talking about a 5 inch gap or something, but this looks about right for a Jeep.

In this picture, it looks like the top would fit better if the soft top channel wasn't there:

That would allow the top to drop down and eliminate the gap between the top, and the top of the door.

Yep looks like your right Eric....you could notch the top a bit if you wanted to keep the soft top hardware
