    So I don't need 2 wires on a 1 wire?
One of the guys said that I needed a feed from the positive to one of the spade slots under a plastic cap. Right now everythings grounded and I have the temp. wiring set to go from the battery output on the back of the alt. to the pos. battery terminal.

If that battery sat in the garage thru last winter on the concrete floor and went dead, it is quite possible that it froze. If you take a hydrometer and suck and squeeze the water several times into the same cell, the water should stay clear. If not then the plate separators (cardboard or such) have deteriorated and rendered the cell useless. This will account for the battery going dead in about 4 days after charging. as for the alt 1 wire temp wiring, yes its one wire from the alt bat terminal directly to the battery pos and the neg to good eng ground. A volt meter is advisable. If not then hydrometer to check state of specific gravity (they are cheap) which is same as state of charge. HTH

Just a quick note on the one wire alternator, A true one wire alternator has a special regulator installed, this is known as a self exciting regulator. You don't have to have this to use a stock 10SI or 12SI as a one wire hookup, with the stock regulator you do have to rev the engine to start the charging process. I have a stock alternator but when you start the vehicle the volt meter shows 12 1/2 volts. When you rev the engine the volt meter goes to 14.4 volts indicating the alternator has kicked in. It works fine this way just keep in mind you do need to rev the engine to start the charge. Once you have done this the alt. will charge normally even at idle. The self exciting regulator is available on E-Bay for $15 or so.

Walt, that does help but the battery I have is one of those sealed unit gel style
Larry and Jeeper, thanks for the links and the writeup. My hotrod buddy told me how to wire it last night if I did indeed find the 2 little prongs, and I did.
"Jump the number 1 directly to the alt feed wire and the number 2 to IGN position in yer ign switch...or the other way around"
Exactly what he told me R)
It'll look like this in the end [IMG]
Well the alternator part at least...

View attachment 24825 This is the setup I have used on all 3 conversions, It ia a modified 1 wire setup but has worked well for of the shelf alternators
