The original carburetor for the motor would be #7026082, which is a Rochester number for the Model 2G carburetor. The Commando used one very much like that one, but the CJ has a manual choke, the Commando came with an automatic choke. The Commando # is 7027089.
I have seen similar carburetors on GM cars. The difference will be the choke and the jet sizes.

    Is yours beyond rebuilding?

Hmmmm, pretty sure there are physical differences in the carb sizes. I was a bowtie junkie prior to becoming a JEEP junkie, and have had several 283/307/327. IIRC, the venturi of the 307 2g was slightly bigger than the 283. I did try a leftover 307 2g on the 225 one day and it burned pig rich. Can't say with any degree of certainty what the exact numbers were, but pretty sure you need to start with a good 225 core and rebuild; not just any ol' GM core will do.

Yes. I have a couple 2G's off of SBC's, and one off my '68 396. They are all physically bigger than the one on the 225...
