I just upgraded to a new internally regulated alternator (three wire). Problem is I'm now having issues with my plow. I've got a e47 Meyers. When the Jeep is running and I hit any of the plow controls (up, left/right) the engine will die.

I'm thinking I've got a short of some sort. I've gone over the wiring and don't see anything obvious. I've gone over different trouble shooting guides and there is no help. The plow has worked the last two years. I did take it off this fall when I did some work on the front end. The solenoid was replaced. I couldn't find the exact replacement, so I used a upright Ford solenoid, which is almost exactly the same with the addition of an additional post.

Any plow/wiring gurus, persons that have had issues like this any help would be appreciated. Its snowing and shoveling is not much fun.

I would remove all three wires from alt and try it again. I dont see how a short in wiring would drag that much power from alt to kill the engine. Could possibly be drawing voltage down so low as to shut down pertronix?

if he has a wire crossed up on the solenoid that was replaced casuing a direct ground, that very well could cause the voltage to drop enough to stall the ignition system, would be like shorting the battery from terminal to terminal with a jumper cable, and could cause a fire:shock: i would check my wiring on the solenoid that was replaced

This is true. Don't let the outside appearance of a solenoid fool you. I have 3 that look exactly like his and all three are wired internally different. You need to look at the diagram that came in the box.

The solenoid will be the first thing I check in the morning.
