I have one those cheapie Northern Tool 20 ton hydrolic press. I am going to weld the bottom legs to the sides since they like to come loose at the bolts. But at the same time i want to trim the bottom "feet" by an inch or 2 on all sides of the bottom.I want it to be a touch more compact when i push it to the wall in the garage. Would this be a terribly bad idea. I know they are to support the press from falling over but i think it wouldnt hurt much.

It is the horizontal pieces on the bottom.

Could you do something to attach or secure it to the ceiling or wall to keep if balanced or even a bracket with pin?

I think 1" would be okay. If your goal is to move it back towards the wall, you might consider drillling new holes and repositioning the bottom pieces towards the front rather than shortening them. You might also consider adding an eyebolt to the wall and then a safety chain/cable from the top of the press to the eyebolt.

I have the press on some wheels, but i will permenant mount them. Yeah i would put a eye bolt in the brick to hold it when it is stored. it just sticks out a bit too much right now :(

What if you cut them then attached a hinge so you could reattach them and flip them out of the way when you don't use it, then flip them back down to use it. You'd have to come up with some sort of pin to hold the hinged feet secure to the rest of the press.
