I had several goals in mind when I started this. I wanted to get the front up just a bit, so I fabbed some shackles, 1 3/4" longer than stock. Next was to add 2* shims, for two purposes. One was to get the tie rod up away from the springs a bit. The other was to correct the caster I lost with the longer shackles. With the longer shackles, and compensating for the wedges/ shims under the axle, I was to gain .63 inches of lift, on paper...
I just put new shocks on the Jeep, but the fronts weren't sitting in the middle of their travel, they were extended too far. I used some 3/8" stock, welded some new studs into them, and welded them to the original shock studs/ plates, 120* forward to get them away from the axle a bit, and putting them almost exactly in the center of their travel. The other cool part about this is all 4 shocks are the same, so it should be easier the next time I need to order shocks. I took it out today, and the front droops and compresses nicely without bottoming out the shocks.
All in all, everything works very well. Tomorrow I will cut the excess from the U-bolts...

I would check that every which way of twisted . I had some mounted forward too and under compresion and the drag /tie rod link bolt sliced a shock body and the oil drained out. death wobbles all the way home. not good. please check .watch those alum. shims too they will crack and losen.

They can't/ won't hit. I made sure of it before I put them there. I'll keep an eye on the shims, but I don't forsee any problems..
