Turn signals on a 3A

My 52 3A has turn signals on the front fenders and a lever mounted to the steering wheel. Did they come on a 52 3A or were they added? I thought they were added, but not so sure. Sorry for so many questions, I'm not new to jeeps, but am new to flattie's.

 

Everyone I have ever seen has them on the grill area. But I have seen one with the set up you speak of. I don't remember if it was a owner addon though. The lever on the steering column was comon. I have one on my JEEP too. I hope this helps a little.

 

I assumed they were added, but I've been seeing alot of pitures of CJ3A's and a lot of them have the same setup as mine. I wonder what the first year for turn signals on a CJ was?

 

my 53 3A has them. the column lever was common but it's a design you could get aftermarket as well. I've heard they're aftermarket but they look too correct to me to be add ons and they seem too common to be. also the grill lights are more like parting lights on mine. I have the fender lights with two lenses (amber front red rear) but I have another set off a 2A that only has the amber front lens solid back. hope that helps...

 

My '53 3B had them on the fender too, you probably have one wire parking lights in the grill, that's what mine had. Check your wiring on the lt fender to see if you have the capability of adding turn signals without modifying your existing lamp sockets.

 

They are add ons cj3a did not come from the factory with them.
