Just curious... Transferred output gear, top cover, shifting forks & cane from my old T14 to my new rebuilt on. Once I was able to see inside the old trans I could see why it was so difficult to shift. Two of the blocking rings were broken. All else looks good. Are the blocking rings a weak point in the T14 :?... now that I have a spare maybe I'll try to rebuild it myself & I'll have a good spare. Think I can get away with just new blocking rings:?

I think so. I'd use NEW blocking rings though. Whether you are ok with reusing parts depends on how hard it is for you to R&R the transmission again. A rebuild is typically blocking rings, small parts (needle bearings, gaskets, etc) and maybe front and rear bearings. If I was cutting corners, I'd pick the best front bearing if I could.

it seems blocking rings aren't what they used to be
I'd test fit or eyeball it on the gear before you put it all back together
the synchro surface on the gear can wear
seems the new rings of today spread more and much faster than the older blocking rings
    just my opinion
maybe the broken rings weren't positioned properly over the shift dogs by a previous owner
there is/was a special "spreader" tool to insert between the gear and the ring when reassembling the trans to keep the rings from expanding as you installed the front bearing/input shaft into the case
the FSM shows a picture of that tool in place during reassembly I believe
