Just finished some repairs and some modifications to my "6". Talk about project creep, I think I fell victim.

I started out wanting to replace the front and rear output seals on the T/C. Since I was under the jeep I thought I should replace the T/C pan gasket(added project #1). While I was ordering that gasket I decided to order the oil pan gasket and a shift tower gasket (#2 & #3). Then I thought, "as long as I'm removing the oil pan, I might as well do the rear main seal (added project #4)." Heck, how much more work could that be .

I picked up some rubber valve cover gaskets, too (project #5). My thought was to try and stop (slow) the fluids leaking from the jeep. Save the environment, lesson our nations dependency on foreign petroleum R).

Well, I looked up Vernco for tips on doing the output seals and pics of the Vernco Seal-O-matic 2000 seal driver and saw the remote T/C breather tube (added project #6). When I went to the hardware store to get the heater hose for the extension I decided to pick up some extra hose. Why? Well, so I could install the Heatercraft heater I got for X-mas last year and remove the stock heater (added project #7). While I was screwing around under the dash I made the mistake of trying to clean up some the wiring (project #8) so i could replace the defroster manifold and run the heater vent tubing (#9 ). Since I had the radiator fluid drained to change the heater hoses, I decided to replace the upper and lower radiator hoses and thermostat (#10) since I've been pushing my luck with the old ones for some time.

Before I buttoned everything up I replaced the transmission drain plug and added a 45% elbow to make it easier to get at the plug (#11). I also added a 90% elbow to the transmission fill whole, cut an access whole in the trans tunnel cover, and made easily removeable cover over that whole (#12). I also replaced the break shoes and cleaned up the parts to the parking break (#13), which will now actually keep the Jeep from rolling away while parked on an non-level surface :).

All I have to do is put the half cab on for winter and I should be good-to-go.

The camera was left at the cabin last weekend, so no pics. I'll get some up if I can find my daughters camera.

Sounds like the story of how my jeep ended up being stripped down to the frame. R)

Yup, I know how you feel. My latest case started with replacing the axles with a pair my Dad rebuilt last year some time.
Turned into new wheel cylinders and shoes all the way around, speedo gear change, axle vents, modifying the tire carrier to fit a 33", ignition switch (I dunno), new shocks, and today I built and installed longer shackles for the front and installed 2* caster shims to get the tie rod up away from the springs... All this in the last 3 weeks...Stupid snowball.....
Now I'm back to driving it everyday, and wondering why I bought the ZR2 Blazer that just sits there now...

It happens. I got a 74 cj on a 76 frame and running gear. It ran but the tranny was missing a couple of bolts so the clutch didn't engage. Thought about and started working. Decided to change a few things. So now I got another frame, a 6 tub, Dan44 front, D60 rear, a t18/d20 and a bunch of other stuff.

So I guess two tranny bolts resulted in building a cj6 from scratch.............

    Yaa. Project creep.
