('57 CJ5) I have been working on this jeep now a couple years off and on. It is just how I wanted it too look. The only problem I have are the leaks. It is ALOT better than it was. But I still have a couple. I'm pretty sure the main one is from the transfer case. I've tried to reseal; used every goop on the market. I quit. I think I'll just live with it. It runs fine, looks great, been offered alot of money for it. (I've got to get some pictures up). Anybody else have this problem...and just decided to live with it? -G:coffee::coffee:

A CJ that does not leak does not have any oil in it. :)

Even after all the work I have done to mine the dana 20 t-case still seeps a little oil.

i found that 85w140 doesn't leak out as fast as 85w90. However when it gets cold here (below 40* ) I don't drive the jeep.

Yup. I have not given up. Every winter I try again. :) I guess it's not too bad. I'll loose two or three ounces a week.

Go to an appliance store. Get a refrigerator box. Cut it in sections. Park over it.
    Replace when saturated.
    :D
I did that for years, after the rebuild!

My idea is to build a skid plate/drip pan. Goes from frame rail to frame rail under the trans/t-case area. Slopes to one spot and has a drain plug. Maybe 1/8" steel or possibly that high strenght plastic (UHMW) say about 3/8" thick. A guy could cut grooves in the plastic to direct the oil to one spot.

Wouldn't stop the leaks but would keep the floor cleaner.

What do you guys think of this idea?

Great minds think alike. I too have been thinking about a shallow attachment to my skid plate. Back to the drawing board!!!
