We've been working on this issue for a few months now. We set the timing and had the dwell points set--which got the Jeep running incredibly. However, the next day I ran into the same problem that I have been dealing with. When I get up to 55mph, the jeep starts back firing and sputtering. It is almost as if no gas is getting through. We just put a new distributor cap and cleaned the spark plugs. It will run great for a day, then it goes back to the same old issue. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Never had the 55 mph issue. I'm afraid to drive that fast :) Mine did sputter and quit on me frequently. After a carb rebuild/cleaning and replacing the 40 year old fuel pump - no problems.

mine used do that but, increased the fuel pressure (I have an adjustable regulator on mine) from 2.5 (factory) to 3psi and it went away.
