I need to replace the spider gears in my D44. From what I've read that will require removing the ring gear from the carrier. Is it OK to reuse the the ring gear bolts when I put it back together?

a buddy justfinished his set-up and just torqued to specs. and the ring gear loosened up and caused spectacular damage on a very hard to recover trail .... please USE RED LOCKTIGHT cheap insurance.

I would change them. Dana 30/44 ring gear bolts are available cheap from numerous sources. I have a friend who locked up his rearend and broke ring gear teeth on his Jeep when a ring gear bolt came loose. Can't figure how it happened since this rearend used the old lockstraps.

Hmmmmm, today's barely meets standards bolts probably made someplace else

    or

    yesteryear's metal.

either way you go, use the red stuff.
