Does anybody know what the original exhaust was for a 73 CJ5 with 304 V8? Was it dual exhaust or single? I don't find it anywhere.
    thanks

it was a single, with a y-pipe. on mine, the muffler was mounted transversely in the rear with the exit to the right when i go it.

How did that work? Where is the muffler in relation to the gas tank?

Muffler is under the driver's seat, inside the frame. The tailpipe goes over the axle, outside the frame, and exits at the rear corner.

I have seen the stock exhaust converted to duals. A muffler shop can mirror the left side on the right, and turn the Y-pipe into a cross-over.

Thanks Tim, but I was asking Dante how his muffler was mounted transversely in the rear. That sounds like the setup on the new JK Wranglers where the muffler is where the gas tank used to be and sits sideways.

I've got a 70 body with an underseat tank. Plenty of room out back. :D Not so much fuel capacity
