Does anyone know the correct color for a 1978 CJ5 engine? I have an unrestored CJ5 that needs to have some touch-up on the engine and I am having a difficult time finding the correct paint. It is not AMC blue. Some articles reference 1959 Pontiac blue but this is not correct. The color is blue-green and non-metallic and not the Dauntless color.

    Thanks for any help.:?

It's not this color? This is "AMC Blue."

As to the engine color for 1978:

Parts book, (1974-80) under MISCELLANEOUS PAINT

    Engine enamel--Blue (73-R-87) Ditzler Code 14688
Engine enamel--Blue Poly Ditzler Code DQE13730.

Go to your local paint shop and hit them with these numbers.
    Hope this helps.

Poly means metallic, FWIW. All the engines after '73 that I've seen are a solid color, as above. Just FYI.

Tommy, I got the same number 73-R-87 14688 from this site http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/. Thanks for the conformation. I sent them an e-mail because they do not have a color chip on the site.

I think I will take the cap off my valve cover and take it to a shop near me that can hopefully match the paint.

    Thanks everyone for the replies.
