I'm back to the job of converting the '47 truck to 12 volt. It has an Autolite vacuum advance dist. in it. Will the points and condensor from a 12 volt F134 fit/work with this distibutor. Should I replace the distibutor with a mechanical advance unit. There are no vacuum lines currently hooked up to the dist. so, does anyone know have a drawing of what goes where. PO taped off the vac port with duct tape. Ludel's book was no great help with the details of converting the dist. to 12 volt.
Still need to get a 12v coil installed and switch my 6v elect fuel pump to 12v. I think everything is done, alt installed, bulbs replaced, ballast resistor, etc. Got a battery to fit the original tray. Resistor in line to protect original gauges. Still need the heavier duty one for the heater motor.

Stock points and condensor will work just fine.

There probably isn't a ported vacuum port on the base of the carb, so manifold vacuum is what was used back in the day. If it is disconnected, there's a chance the diaphragm in the advance unit is shot. Idle should change noticeably when you plug the advance into the vacuum source, and also when you unplug the line and cap it. Time the engine with the vacuum line off and plugged.

Should be fine, as long as you se a ballast resistor and a 12 volt coil. You can also use a coil with an internal resistor, it neatens up the engine compartment a bit. ;)
