I just totally tore apart my T-90 and spicer 18 t-case and replaced all the seals and verified that my bears and gears where good… Everything looked great and the job was easy till all those needle bears and spacer fell out of the main shaft in the t-case… That was a pain to put back together but after I made the smaller Dia. shaft to hold the greased up needle bearings in place as I beat the main shaft back in place…. That made it easy….

I also replaced the entire clutch assembly 2 weeks ago, which I bought the entire kit from Northstar willys. The kit came with, throwout bearing, pressure plate, clutch, pilot bearing, clutch fork and clutch fork pivot stub. I put the optional larger 9-inch clutch in it. Everything assembled well and the jeep ran great for about 75 miles… Here is where things get screwy. This past weekend I was riding around and started noticing a weird noise from the tranny area kind of like a bad bearing noise and it is only intermediate and only when the clutch is disengaged. When the clutch is engaged or the jeep is setting in neutral there is no noise… So this told me that it was not a bad bearing in the tranny or t-case correct? I thought it might be the adjustment of my clutch cable, but guess what that didn’t fix it! I don’t think it's my pilot bearing…. Have any of you had this problem and what are your thoughts?

I'm thinking bad throwout bearing? It was new, but are these things prone to be bad out of the box? Was I suppose to grease the throwout bearing? Is there a good name brand that I should get or is NAPA brand ok? Dang, I rally don't want to split the tranny from the motor again...

Thanks a bunch for any help!

PS. I broke my first axle this past Sat. wheeling. It is the d44 so I’m looking at buying one piece axles?

I think the bearing should be a sealed unit so cannot be greased. Yes it is possible DOA. NAPA bearings should be ok IMO. I would look at warranty with Northstar but I'm seeing a split again in your future.

Yeap....... "Omix ADA".....that's the one... Thanks for the offer, I just order one from my local NAPA for $21.85.... I talked to NorthStar Willy's today and they said send it back..... OOOoh-OK, I guess... I hope NAPA has good one! So far over the years I have been pretty happy with NAPA's quiality... Not always happy with the price but the parts seem good... and most of the time correct!

I guess I'l start splitting the trany tonight...
