the rollbar i have measures 44 inches from rear floor to top of hoop, which seems too tall to me. does anyone know what it should be if it were stock. it also seems to angle toward the back to much, what is correct angle? if you have pictures that might help me. the guy i bought it from said it was a factory cj5 rollbar.

Later model 5 rollbars mounted to the floor behind the drivers seat, not just to the fender. Thus being to tall. Most likely the reason there were no mounting plates, they had rust issues at the mounting plate.

Late CJ sport bars were roughly angled with the windshield, which would be more of an angle than your '66.

This '76 did not have the floor supports, just bolted in along the tops of the rear fenders. Height could've very well been 44", but never measured exactly:

The first one is a 76-86 stock rollbar. This will work in the older Jeeps if the gas tank and underseat storage is removed.
You can see the bottom plates and how they squished the bar at the bottom.

The second is one example of a pre-75 rollbar. There are many different style rear supports but this is a very popular style.

And the third is just another style that happen to be on the computer.

hey bobracing, the first picture is what i have, the legs have been cut short to be mounted to the wheel wells. if i cut another 2 3/4 inches off the hoop it should give me the same angle as my windsheild and about the right height.the bar as it sits now is a few inches higher than my windsneild but its hard to get an exact measurement. thanks all for your help.
