I have a 1964 CJ5 with stock F134 and T98 transmission. When I dont drive it for 2-3 weeks when I go to start it the clutch disc sticks to the flywheel for a while. I start it in low then it eventually works free. What causes this and how is the best way to free it after starting it up. Doug

I've never had the prob but, if I recall old posts correctly it's a corrosion (rust) prob between the clutch disk and flywheel. I don't understand it as I live in a dry climate. The solution, as I understand it, I hate saying this, is to burn the cluth a bit ... just a bit ... nose into a tree and let the cluth out till you smell it.
What I do know is that this is the way to treat an old tractor driven Bushhog ot tiller (with a slip clutch) that has been sitting in the [wet] weather for some years ... you do NOT want those clutches welded together ;)

I wouldn't put it in the lowest gear either because it will give the drive train more mechanical advantage and make it harder to slip the clutch. Try a gear in high range.
