I have been tinkering with this jeep for a couple years now. I was planning on converting it into a jeep truck much like the "Brute", but had since decided not to hack up a perfectly good jeep.
Progress has been going much quicker in the last few weeks thanks to my renewed interest and ambition created by reading and seeing other classic jeep builds.
I have this website, earlycj5.com to thank for my renewed interest and goals.
Enough of the jibberish, here are some pics as progress permits.

More can be seen at my link located below.

Here is a few more to add in the meantime.

The frame and the body have been power washed.
I have replaced all engine and tranny mounts, leaf spring bushings, laid in some heavy galvanized sheet metal in the front floor boards.
Welded a crack in the front cross member to frame under the battery tray.
I have put the body back together, (something that I should have not split).
Replaced the master cylinder and front brake lines, the rear appear to have been replaced just before I bought it.

There is much more to do, so I will take my time and do it up as right as I can. I will not rush this, I am not looking for a restoration, just a decent rebuild.

I have slowed down on my Tux re-do because I find it hard to get myself out in this blistering high 90's and high humidity. I do have a leanto to work under but still styfilling.

i picked up my cj6 a few months back and havnt done much to it, bought a few things here and there, replaced the starter, made plans for it, but have been working on customers rigs and just havnt had the time to work on my own rigs.

i know how it goes though, the motivation comes and goes.

Well, I have been getting a little more done to the jeep. I had found that the overdrive rod and pin had worn considerably, so I welded the end and redrilled the pin hole. I had also cleaned up the rear corners of the frame and welded in 1/4" thick plates (boxed) that will help reninforce the area, it will also help to support the spring hangers. (I admit my welding skills are'nt the greatest, but they do have good penetration). I had contemplated installing longer plates, but decided against it. I may end up replacing the spring hangers in the future. I am currently working on cleaning up the frame for rust converter primer and paint.

Over the weekend I managed to repair the clutch bell crank, (pictures in the near future) it had worn just like my Warn OD rod. Other than that, I did not get much else accomplished, other than some grease and paint removal on the tub.
