After breaking my frame on the Rubicon about 2 weeks ago for the 3 rd time, I decided to tear things apart and do a better job of re-inforcing it. When repairing previous cracks and breaks I had welded in plates at the rear spring hangers that bridged the cracks. Works great for keeping the old cracks together, but new cracks will form at the ends of the plates. So, after pulling the t-case and tranny and all the wires and gas lines, brake lines form the frame I made up a couple of plates from 1/8" x 4" plate and had a certified welder burn them in. It's not going to be a permanent fix, just because this frame is really beyond fixing. If it will hold up for the rest of the Summer I'll be happy. I have a pristine M38A1 frame that I'm going to completely box this winter and swap the Jeep over to it. I'm hoping to stretch the wheelbase 8 - 10" in the process. Anyway, here's some pics of the repair.
