just installed new 3 core heavy duty radiator with new hoses and using a pusher electric fan. Here it goes, i had the jeep idling making sure nothing was leaking from the jeep. (electric fan not hooked up) i checked inside the radiator to make sure coolant was being moved through the radiator well after about 4-5 min it started to boil over. now here is the question. could it be that my new radiator hoses have a slight kink in them or be that the fan is not hooked up and it overheated that way? Reason i ask is cause im not to knowledgeable about this!

well i didnt figure that letting the jeep idle for approx 4-5 min would need a fan to keep it from overheating. Since the coolant is very hot i do have good flow im just wondering if its because of the radiator hoses

I'd start by hooking up the fan.
Sounds like there could have been air in the system as well....

For the water to boil, it has to get heat from the engine. As you observed, the water is swerling in the top of the tank. That should indicate the water is circulaing thru the radiator/hoses/waterpump and engine. Indications now is quantity? As stated above--air in system-- bad T-stat--partially collapsed hoses.

did you drill a 1/8" hole into the flange of the Tstat?.....mine did what you've described until I drilled the hole allowing all the air to burp out. HTH

no never drilled any type of hole... i will defiinitely try that today and yes the hoses look partially collasped. The parts store didnt have the old style hoses with the metal rings inside so i just have the regular rubber hoses.

A plain rubber hose used as a bottom hose will collapse. Usually bottom hoses come with a separate spring inside them to stop them from collapsing. Either that, or flex hoses have a spring integral to them that lets them be used on the top or bottom.

If the parts store sold you a bottom hose without the spring, they sold you the wrong part.
