hello, dad and I are restoring a 64 CJ-5A we have. The F-head has a motorola alt. on it. The wiring is all
missing and all diagrams show a generator. Anyboby have info or diagrams on how to wire the alt? There
is also a small motorola voltage regulator? with it. Thanks

If can fit a Motorla then should have room for a Delco. The Motorola probably requires a regulator.

Get a Delco 10SI to replace the Motorola. They are internally regulated and can be run as a one wire alternator.
Mine just uses the heavy battery lead.:hurrican:

Do a Google search on them, and you can find the wiring diagrams you need.:tea:

There is a good article here:

    http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/delcoremy.shtml

I have a '64 CJ5 and I used a 10SI too. The article shows you what to ask for at the parts counter to get the one you want. For example, I asked for an alternator for a 1978 Chevy Camaro, 8 cylinder 350 to get a 10SI, 63 amp, clocked at the 3:00 position.

    I was thinking more of a greenish-blue, as opposed to a bluish-green.:coffee:

    Oh, that wire!

I don't have one. Mine is connected through the amp gauge -- and is a heavy gauge (maybe 10) red wire running from the Bat terminal into the loom that runs through the fire wall.:hurrican:
