Bought this 72 right out of high school (about 20 years ago). Had a white body rusting off the frame. Wish I could find pics of that. Anyways, bought a rust free 58 M38A1 tub for cheap. Put a coat of yellow on it and put it on, however, never was happy with it. Mostly, the firewall had been rednecked and so had the cowl. I think the firewall was out of a 72 chevy truck. About the only thing good on my old tub was the firewall and cowl so I decided to put them together. Once I got in that deep there was no turning back. This was 5 years ago......

Might as well finish yanking the tub

    Drivetrain had to go next

Might as well go all the way to the bare frame and start fresh. Sandblasted it clean

Got the frame painted with a high end urethane so I had to put in new 2-1/2 springs

Can't put ugly drivetrain back in so had to go through and paint them

Rolling chassis looked good so I better blast and metalwork the tub

Slap some bondo on so I can get this project going

Real nice Job! Sometimes I wish I could get around to tearing mine down for a treatment like that, but I am enjoying it too much right now...

Looks nice!! How well are those valve covers holding up for you? I had a set just like them and couldnt get them to seal for anything, tried rubber gaskets, cork gaskets, rtv gaskets and eventually just put the stockers back on :(

Haven't notices any leaks but I haven't looked under the hood much since it seems to be running good.
