ammeter question

    Not sure if this is right forum for this question but, here goes. 47 willys truck converting to 12 volt. Which side of the ammeter is the + side? It's the original guage and there is no = or- marking on the back side of the gauge. On the face there is + and - for the swing of the needle but, that's it? Thanks guys.

    I'd hook it up. If it swings the wrong direction, just switch the wires...

    (Be sure to pull the battery cable FIRST!) :shock:

    agree.

    But I hook up a 9v radio battey or a D-cell. Just enough to see which way it pulls the needle. I fry fewer meters that way.R)

    Just hold the wires on the terms and pull the h-light sw on and that will tell you. You wont do any damage if they are wrong. It will show discharge (engine not running) or swap wires.
