I put a roughcountry 2.5-3" lift on my 67 CJ5 and the final hurdle is that the front shocks won't fit. They are too large in diameter and hit the steering stop bolt. One buddy said to mount them inverted, but, that seems wrong for a hydo shock. Anybody run into this and solved without modification to the axle? Keeping it original is the goal.
By the way, the roughcountry kit is good, but the ubolts they send with the kit are for later, larger dia axles (3"). They supplied the correct ones for the front (2.5") but I had to buy longer ones from Alcan for the rear.
Making headway, one bolt at a time!

I have run them inverted quite a bit - never had an issue with them.

Grew up in Craig (so did Thunderpig on here) and only get back to the area to Elk Hunt - Usually between Baldy and Suger Loaf.

Thanks Warloch, I've seen them mounted that way, but thought maybe the installer was a little off. Ha! I thought the difference in the dampening on compression and rebound would make a difference. But, hey, it isn't a race car is it?
I moved back in the 80's and Hayden was more like Steamboat where I grew up. Gas and oil are causing a big impact in NW Colorado. Craig is booming right now, even have a Walmart! The SS of today is wacked!
Thanks for the comeback and maybe we'll meet up in Grizzly Park!
