Does the starter need to be specially aligned for some reason? I pulled the starter and put it back in, it fit fine, no issues. But i got the starter so spin but the teeth are no meshing. Should i have made the the starter teeth pushed out when i installed in to the engine?

dan i am not %100 for sure but i think you are suposed to engage the starter prior to instalation, do you have the foot starter with linkage?

Yeah i ahve teh foot starter. Given my post really didnt have anything to do with my previous problem, but i noticed that you can raise and lower the pushrod on the switch. I am guessing you want to have the lever push the bendix out to the flywheel so it will spin the flywheel.

yep, its been a long time if i am thinking right your starter has a fork to engage the bendix into the flywheel, i hate these starters, they are a pita, but the do have the cool factor, my m38a1 has the l head but has the f head flywheel and bell, so mine uses the solenoid setup, if you decide you want to up grade later on you can, thought you might like to know
