It certainly could, If the factory crankshaft to water pump ratio is based on a 5.75 inch pulley the 7 inch one would be about 21.7% slower. The shroud could possibly work ok the way you have it set up. I dont know of any local jeepers that would have any extra pulleys.

I will call the local salvage yards if one of our members does not turn one up.

I'm just throwing this one out there, I would suspect the pulley is the major part of your problem. However.

I've read in more than one place that the proper way for a shroud to be set up is for the fan to be set into the shroud no more than 1/2 of the blade width for max efficiency. From looking under a hood or two since I've read this (about 30 years ago) it appears that a lot of stock setups with shrouds follow that rule.

Thank you for the offer:) I am on the prowl for a new pulley. Does anyone know if the pulley has other applications than the 225. ie. Small block with short pump, ford, ect. Thanks again.

I plan on cutting the shroud down in the process. I ordered a flex fan and it's pitch and blade size is significantly greater than the fan I have so I'll be using that too.

Take look at any buick / gm 231 v6 they are basically the same engine. I have used exhaust manifolds and HEI distributors. (monza's, etc. 80's ish)

The 225 is a buick engine.

Update.....I installed a flex-a-lite flex fan, the smaller pulley, and cut the shroud back. What a difference you can sure hear that fan pulling air. Around town driving and freeway she doesn't get hot anymore. I put her in crawl and the temp came up again, so I installed a perma cool pusher. Retested and that helped. I am just waiting for a 100deg day to really test it out....either way my heep is going to the rubicon in a few weeks. May have to just run the heater tooo.
