Mmm. the V6 adapter works for most of the GM engines, but you'd need to use the Chevy bell with a 4.3L. The 4.3L is an excellent choice, though the positioning in the engine bay is a little different from the Buick engines. The new placement must account for the rear mounted distributor otherwise interfering with the firewall.

Pretty easy, but not as easy as another Buick V6, or even a small block Buick V8.

Well I really should hang out here more often to give you guys some updates. The engine is out and stripped bare. One piston took a 5lb sledge to remove, so I believe I made a good choice. The frame is degreased, primed for paint, and most of the floor is out and under repair. I should have a 225 or a 231 sometime this week. I also considered putting a 360 in this from a local wagoneer. I'd also enjoy a "go devil" 4 cylinder as well. I'll try to keep you all informed on my progress.

Re: end of the road *images included*

So here are some images below for those who like to view classic iron. Obviously through reading, and visual guides I confidently know I have a t90a. But I believe to mate it to the Buick 231 the transmission had an adapter plate added between the bell housing and the transmission's mating face. It may even be a Novak piece, but currently I cannot verify. In my readings I have heard that the 225, 231, and Pontiac engines utilize the same bell housing. Is this true? If so I may have a 225 lined up locally that could slip right on. A 225 would hopefully also have a 10 spline female output, as well as the stronger crank. So hopefully what I have read and thought up is possible. Onto the images.

The bellhousing for a Buick is whats referred to as a BOP. Buick, Olds, Pontiac.
Any reason you don't want to rebuild the engine you currently have. It might be salvageable once torn apart and looked at.

    I'd fix it.

You can even find used pistons to replace the chipped ones. Doesn't have to be perfect to run good.

I've tried everything short of dynamite to release the pistons. I may have a deal for a already running 225 for 100 bucks, and with that being said I might be better off scrapping the 231.
