Starter switch

    I just put a tilt column in my 75 CJ5. When I start it with the column key it turns over & won't start until I release the key. I'm not sure whats wrong. I old key switch in the dash never did that. Any ideas? Thanks

    might have the <run> circuit tied into the <start> circuit. therefore the coil only has power when you are turning the key to <start>.

    Put a wire from the battery to the 'plus" side of the coil and try to start it. If it runs, trace the wiring from the coil back thru the new key switch.

    I ran a wire from the + on the coil to the battery & it started right up....Now just find the right wire...it is a rats nest under the dash. Thanks
