Electrical Question

After a couple of weeks of putting off my wiring, I started on it today. Four hours later, I have all of the wires marked correctly and hooked up. However, when I cross any wire w/ the power wire my hazards come on. Makes no difference if the hazard switch is on or off. None of my blinkers/ hazards work from the column so I'm assuming the hazard switch isn't getting juice? The steering column is a Flaming River the PO put it, which was a pain to ID in the first place. My wiring diagram shows a pink wire running to the switch from the the flasher, but the wire isn't there. Doesn't help the PO wrapped all the wires in an inch of electrical tape :evil: What's happening here?
