Has anyone ever made a sight gauge for their transmission? Its a real PITA to fill the transmission up through the fill plug on the side, so I usually just pull the top cover to fill it.

So I was thinking about tapping a fill plug in the shifter cover. Remove the fill and drain plug on the side and put a black iron 90* in each with a hose barb on one end of the 90. Then connect the two with some clear tubing. Similiar to this

I see you didn't have time to draw your idea to scale or mock up anything... :D

I think it is a great idea and should work. It is kind of like the "water level" concept for construction.

I'm tired of guessing myself. I didn't think of that but I was trying to figure out how to adapt a Quicksilver marine hand-pump for gear oil. Maybe incorporate into your design!

Jon: Looks like a little higher quality pump that I get from the local FLAPS. They cost about 4 bucks there.

BTW, I already have a oil montering guage--The size of the puddle under the Jeep! R)
