drained my transfer case, filled it back up with 80-90 gear oil, then the high low gear wouldnt move and the jeep was locked up. I put about a quart and a half in...wrong oil? I drained the oil back out and the lever moves free now. does anyone have a picture of where the tranny fill and the transfer fill is? I dont think I filled the tranny insted but it makes me wonder what went wrong

If you have the T90 tranny the fill plug is on the drivers side about mid way up and the T/fer case plug is on the passenger side of the T/fer case.

If you are running a T90 / D18 by chance would you be trying to put the T-case in low range without first having the other lever in 4 wheel drive..........the interlock requires the 2 wheel to 4 wheel selection be shifted first

What T- case do you have, single or double lever.

The problem was I mixxed u the drain plug with the fill plug so it was a bit longer, jamming the levers. so drained it, filled it and started on the tranny. took out the fill plug on the tranny first and about a pint came out...so I drained it and fille dit back up, but it seems more came out then i put in...should I be worried?

As mentioned, there are two separate fill plugs and two separate drain plugs. The T-90 takes about 6 1/2 pints of 90wt gear oil and the D-18 takes about 3 1/2 pints of the same.

If you don't already have a factory service manual (FSM), I HIGHLY recommend that you get one. It is an invaluable source of the correct data, lubrication info, etc.
